MDA's A Taste of Down Under 2012 will be held from 6-10 p.m., Monday, June 18th at the Bridge & Terrace Room at Bridgewaters in the historic South Street Seaport District. Sponsor a Kid to CampMDA provides kids from the metro New York area with the opportunity to attend a free summer camp, offering a wide range of activities designed for children who have limited mobility or use wheelchairs. MDA-sponsored summer camp is a special place where children with muscular dystrophy and related diseases can experience an unforgettable week where barriers don't exist. The 2012 MDA Metro New York Summer Camp will take place July 7-13 in Spring Valley, N.Y.
MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.
As part of its metro research efforts, MDA currently supports 24 research projects in the Tri-State area. In the New York area, MDA supports nine clinics; there are 13 MDA clinics in the entire state.
These clinics offer medical services to children, adults and their families affected with any of the more than 40 neuromuscular diseases in MDA’s program.
MDA's programs are funded almost entirely by the voluntary contributions of concerned individuals and cooperating organizations.
